Forest Guardian Lighter Covers
As you venture deeper into the forest, you notice a peculiar sensation that you are being watched. Not by birds or the small lizards hiding beneath the mushrooms , but by something much more ancient.
The air is thick with the scent of damp earth and the gentle rustle of leaves underfoot. Sunlight streaks dappled through the canopy and you notice in one large patch of light a small sentient tree, unlike any you have seen before, its bark adorned with patches of moss that seem to pulse with life.
A single eye, bright and inquisitive, opens from within the trunk and regards you with a mix of curiosity and wisdom. The air hums with a quiet energy, and you feel a wave of calm and immense strength emanating from the tree before you. The animals seem to quiet and forget that you are there, and the other plants seem to shimmer momentarily as if they are communicating.
This appears to be some kind of guardian, protecting the forest from the chaos of the outside world and watching over the delicate balance of the ecosystem. As you stand before the small tree, you sense that your journey is far from over.
At that moment, your old companion Chadwick McLongcock bursts into the forest, weighed down by treasures and weaponry galore, his shirt has a large rip running from his chest down to his bellybutton. Obviously he has been trying to impress the bar girls with his tales of adventure again. The animals scatter and the air goes quiet. The sentinel tree looks at Chadwick with a glint of horror and distaste in its eye.
“That’s awesome! Dibs!” He pulls an axe from his giant sack of inventory (honestly, how is he even carrying all that?) and tests the sharpness against his finger. You try to stop him but your tiny and frail mage-body is no match for his completely unbalanced strength and charisma stats. You fall to the ground and watch as he cuts the sentinel down. A teardrop rolls down your cheek and suddenly an ugly black tear opens in the space above the fresh stump. Chadwick lets out a scream as his body is absorbed into the hole and his axe and equipment fall to the ground. The air seems to neatly stitch itself back together.
What the hell just happened? Slowly the animals begin to return and you brush yourself off and walk over to the pile of belongings on the ground, and the new log, still alive and watching you. You apologise to the confused eye and check Chadwick’s kit for anything you might need, then you pick up the small guardian log, and continue on your way. Maybe it’ll grow back.
