Newsletter Archive #2: Motion Titles & Deck Update

My body is trying to shift me back into a bi-phasic sleep cycle again. I was up for 2hrs in the dark of early morning writing down more ideas and designs, mostly for laser cut things this time around. Last time I woke up and had to scribble for an hour in the dark it was for a new website design. I've not created that yet because it's going to be a long project and I only really have one portion of it figured out in my head. I'm currently trying to focus on creating more products so that I can hopefully stop eating up my savings soon, but I'm excited to start working on the elements I do have for the website slowly in the background. Anyway here's my possibly illegible scribbles from last night in case you want to look at that mess.

I've been wanting to do more laser cutting and start playing with cute acrylics. Hopefully a couple of these will be happening in the pretty near future, others will be a bit further off due to complexity and figuring out how to make ordering 3+ materials for a single design cost efficient without making massive quantities that might not sell.

MOTION DESIGN PROJECT

When I decided to leave uni at the start of this year and go full time in my little art business, there was one class I couldn't bring myself to drop. Heckin motion design, the class I'd been looking forward to with the most excitement since day one, and that also ended up having a really cool teacher that reminded me of my dad. I made this title sequence as my final assessment, and I'm pretty proud of it so you should watch it with your eyeballs. If you want to know what the heck it is for and why I made it, I had to write up a page talking about that and showing my process, so you can read that and see my little sketches and stuff for it here:

Otherwise, just watch it with zero context. It might still be good, idk.

RUNE DECK UPDATE

The production order got delayed at the printers for like a week, but we are back in production now. Shouldn't be long before I can pick them up. I'm working on a guide book to go with the deck, I just need to figure out how to DIY the printing and stapling. Hopefully my cool twisty stapler will go through that many pages, it can't seem to handle very much at a time, so we'll see how that goes.

If you missed the first newsletter that gives this deck update context, you can view the archive feed here.

Hugs & unicorn wishes,
Jemilla
